With a nod to Fluxus

An "event score" for alleviation of grumpiness:

1. Set up a camera on a timer
2. Let your face make the most sincere expression of your state, encompassing all frustration and antagonism
3. Hold until the picture takes (stay in the focal plane)
4. Observe the picture's absurdity
5. Feel better

does this work if you are inexplicably upbeat? "Look at the absurdity of your upbeatness, feel better (if possible)"

I think in that case, you would feel worse afterward. Assuming this is a counteractive effect that is convergent (grumpy->happy, happy->grumpy), it would be interesting to find the "null point" of flat affect where your mood was unaltered by the exercise.
